Scale Solar System on the Bike Path (AKA Planets on a Path)

This scale model of the solar system stretched along the lake front from Evanston in the north to the Indiana Border in the south, with the Adler at the location of the sun (planets were placed on both the north and south approaches along their “orbit”). Navigating the installation along the bike path gave visitors a true sense of the massive scale of the solar system and the relatively small scale of the planets in comparison to their orbits.
A companion GPS-based app gave additional audio information as bikers approached planets. It was originally conceived as a permanent installation, but final implementation was with more temporary materials.
